Aware in Care Kits
Research has found that three out of four people with Parkinson’s do not receive medications on time when staying in the hospital, and that when this occurs two out of three will experience unnecessary complications.
With more frequent hospital visits and a high sensitivity to the timing and dosing of PD medications, people with Parkinson’s face great risks in the hospital.
The Parkinson’s Group of the Ozarks has been partnering with the Parkinson’s Foundation to help provide free Aware in Care Kits for Parkinson’s families. The Aware in Care Kit is filled with useful tools and information to help a person with Parkinson’s during the next hospital visit.
The kit includes:
Medical Alert wallet card
1 Nurse Fact Sheet tear off pad
10 Sheets of the Medication Form
Hospital Action Plan
ID bracelet
Duopa Info Card
Deep Brain Stimulation Info Card
The kit also contains a hospitalization letter for COVID-19 that highlights the impact that infections can have on Parkinson’s symptoms and the importance of adherence to the Parkinson’s medication schedule.
The Aware in Care Kits can be obtained from the Parkinson's Foundation or the PGO team is happy to help you with signing up for one of these amazing kits.
